Ouratsimpó
A vast highland world of caravan routes, watered valleys, and deep stone.
Ouratsimpó is not a conventional unified nation but an enormous highland region bound by geography, caravan routes, and the demands of survival. North of the Taurignis barrier, high steppe, dry basins, desert uplands, mountain valleys, badlands, and deep cave systems meet in one immense landscape.
Communities endure where water, pasture, mineral wealth, or trade makes settlement possible. Snowmelt and enduring springs feed the headwaters of the Lithanar River, linking this difficult country to Lithaea far to the south.

Height, water, and stone
Land & climate
High elevation brings dry air, extreme daily temperature shifts, bitter nights, and heavy winter snow in the highest ranges. Watered valleys interrupt dry basins and desert country; ravines, canyon systems, towers, arches, and cavern mouths mark the harsh terrain.
The strange deep rock country
The Kaminádes
The Kaminádes is a region of distorted stone formations, narrow canyons, natural towers, arches, and cave mouths that disappear into immense underground systems. Communities below the surface are part of its public landscape, and the country has inspired unease and superstition for generations.
Surface and underworld
People & culture
Surface communities include pastoralists, caravan settlements, isolated farmers in watered valleys, highland craftspeople, and wandering groups following seasonal grazing. Subterranean society includes substantial dwarven and drow populations alongside others adapted to cavern life. Surface villages emphasize water rights, livestock, and caravan hospitality; underground cities emphasize masonry, mining, stored water, craftsmanship, and the control of tunnels.

Government & power
No unified government rules Ouratsimpó. Town councils, clan leadership, guilds, religious institutions, merchant interests, and subterranean city governments all exercise local authority. Treaties over wells, grazing grounds, tunnels, and caravan passage often matter more than abstract borders.
Caravan and cavern
Economy & trade
Sheep and goats, wool, carpets, leather, salt, metals, minerals, gems, mountain agriculture, pack transport, and underground craftsmanship sustain the region. Akroga is a modest but important pastoral and caravan town, supplying travelers and trading wool and textiles. Šipirtu is a large subterranean metropolis, connected to cavern networks and known for trade, craftsmanship, arcane study, and religious life.
Down the northern roads
Relations with Lithaea
Trade between Ouratsimpó and Lithaea is old and important. Caravans descend toward northern Lithaean settlements and Kavronis; Šipirtu is an established trading partner through that route. Lithaea receives minerals, wool, crafted goods, and imports from farther north and east, while the plateau receives agricultural produce, manufactured goods, luxury imports, and access to Bakalatu trade.
