City of the delta
Zyrigsmé stands where the Lithanar divides across rich coastal soil before reaching the Bakalatu Sea. Its buildings are described as a mixture of sandstone, brick, mud, and timber. In contrast to the marble height of Lithaeabhat, the port spreads outward to accommodate ordinary homes, workshops, warehouses, fishing, and trade.
The city's relative architectural simplicity does not indicate poverty. Its access to river and sea gives it substantial economic power, and the delta supports fertile farms, fisheries, and abundant wildlife.
Siege and memory
Oösmaron reduced much of Zyrigsmé's old fortification after the conquest. Jarazied later allowed smaller walls to be rebuilt. During the Twins’ Betrayal, a rebel army reached the port and began a destructive siege before Prince Jamerishon attacked the besiegers from behind.
Jamerishon remained in the city to tend the wounded and oversee trials of captured soldiers. His actions at Zyrigsmé were central to his reputation as a hero before he became Sultan.
Connections
River vessels travel north toward Ardalambe, Lithaeabhat, and Kubellai. Sea routes connect Zyrigsmé to Murisium—especially the port of Nekhenar—and to the wider Bakalatu world. A small Lithaean navy based here focuses on coastal defense and escorting transports.
