Palace District
The palace district comprises a hundred or so large buildings, including many medium- to high-rent apartments, shops, warehouses, taverns, restaurants, inns and office buildings. Some of the more important buildings include:
The Palace
The Sultan's Palace in Lithaeabhat consists of a massive central building that holds the Sultan's residence, as well as his audience chamber and rooms for meetings, banquets and other activities. There is also a reflecting pool, gardens and outhouses for various functions, including quartering guards and servants. All this is contained within a massive wall, set with massive gate doors and guard towers at regular intervals.
The Grand Square
The Grand Square sits between the Palace and the Grand Temple. It is 700' across east to west, and 600' north to south, including the porch and steps of the Grand Temple. Two twin fountains stand in the middle of the square, each 100 feet in diameter and set 200 feet apart. High-rent buildings with shops, restaurants, cafés, and offices line either side; the Morning Glory Café occupies the northeast side.
The Grand Temple
The Grand Temple is a massive, elongated building crowned by a great central dome and encircled by six slender towers. High arches, imposing façades, and flying buttresses join the towers to the main structure.
Above the main entrance, halfway between the roofline and the doors, a vast stained-glass window in red and gold is framed by black-and-white concentric rings. Its six-sided cross, like an asterisk, is the symbol of Beykríuh.
Below it, a second circular window in blue and purple bears a diamond within a square, intersected and framed by concentric circles: the symbol of Dirilüma.
Two tall rectangular windows flank the smaller window: the eastern shows a sun above a moon, while the western reverses the image. Statues beside the grand porch depict a woman with a solar halo and a man with a crescent halo, representing Günanára and Diriay.
A long red carpet leads along the central aisle to a monumental altar of carved marble, inlaid with gold and gemstones. Candles burn at its corners around an ornamental group of Imïré’s gods, arranged in reverence around the symbol of Beykríuh. Offerings of silver, copper, letters, and sealed scrolls are commonly left there.

Central Garrison of the Grand Army
The Central Garrison of the Grand Army is located immediately behind and to the south of the Grand Temple. It is a square building, 300' a side, topped with a golden dome, at a much lower height than the apex of the Grand Temple. The walls of the garrison slope gently inward as they rise up, and are topped by battlements and a guard tower, half the height of the dome, at each corner. There are large double doors on each face of the building, but they are all normally barred shut, except for the northern set.
The Central Garrison is the headquarters of the Grand Army and mainly serves an administrative role. Except for in times of emergency and war, the Grand Army is not permitted to engage in official activities within the city limits of Lithaeabhat. The Central Garrison houses offices, archives and planning rooms. Many of the soldiers and officers who are assigned to the Central Garrison are housed in the large Barracks building immediately to the west of the Central Garrison.
Apart from its administrative function, the Central Garrison also holds the Penitent Repository, Lithaea's ancient, magical library of slave scripts, keeping control and catalogue of all the legally enslaved persons in the country.
Dytiktés
The Dytiktés district is the southwestern part of lower Lithaeabhat, west of the Notus Gate. This district is home to docks, warehouses, seedy back-alleys, including one wherein Merobaudes hosts an opium den, and four large open-air bazaars surrounding the massive Grand Souk, topped with a golden dome rising to the height of the cliff wall seperating Dytiktés from upper Lithaeabhat.
Kósmima
The Kósmima was originally no different from the surrounding neighborhoods of west upper Lithaeabhat. During the first Khanish invasion and siege, much of the area was reduced to rubble. The human dynasties that later ruled the city enslaved the elvish population and compelled them to rebuild it as a formal, affluent district of broad streets and imposing residences. The Kósmima remains prosperous, though the Kharuuluud and street toughs harass non-humans who enter it. The Exkoubitoi are under strict orders to enforce desegregation policies, so all peoples have official protection to visit its upscale shops; housing nevertheless remains restrictive.
